Since I will need at least one job and probably two next year to pay for rent, food, and at least some of my tuition, I started looking at the Pitt student jobs website. It is the worst student jobs website I've ever seen. After entering in my qualifications and asking it to search for relevent jobs, it brought up, among others, news director for a local TV station and my personal favorite, Bioloby teacher for Oakland Catholic. Yes, I said Bioloby teacher.
But there were no library listings. I think I'll have to track down the personnell office and email them myself.

A tip or two on easily finding a job: draw up a specific list of places you'd like to work and in what positions and order them according to preference, then call each in order and ask to speak with a manager or someone else who's likely to have the power to offer a job, depending on the position. Human resources usually couldn't care less, I've found. So, if you can, find out the name of the person who's likely to be your boss if you get the position, and ask to speak to him directly, and then be enthusiastic, with qualifications at hand and a resume ready to email. Making it a matter of personal interest from the start can work wonders.

I'll have 4 seasons of West Wing DVDs available, less the ones I lend to Yang.

The news director job -- a message from above
You would make an excellent TV news director, and everyone knows it.Sure, go ahead, look for a library job. And throw away your true
calling. As for teaching bioloby? You can teach bioloby when you
retire.
The Pittsburgh area is a veritable den of guru-level documentation
specialists. Track them down and offer to write. As I see it,
there really isn't any reason for you to ever to real work.
